Table Tennis Racquet

Since its inception in the nineteenth century, table tennis has acquired a large number of enthusiastic followers, and the game itself has changed from a parlor game into a real sport.

The origins of table tennis, like most racquet sports, are obscure. Some say it originated in England, others say it was developed by English army officers stationed in India, and still others say they first played in New England. Other manufacturers of board games, aware of the benefits to be made in the production of equipment for this fast growing sport, with copies to Parker Brothers product. It is marketed under the name patented "ping pong", a knock at his table and rackets "ping-pong" of equipment, and sponsored the formation of the United States Boards Association Table Tennis.

Each tournament was organized and established a national championship, and rivalry, fueled by manufacturers of board games, encouraged interest in the sport even more. In 1934, manufacturers and eventually joined the two associations merged in the UK States Table Tennis Association. The Association today is a noncommercial group with members in almost every state. Which regulates the game, publishes a monthly magazine, sending the best American players to compete amateur tournaments and the World Championships in Europe, in general, promotes the growth of the game.

Table tennis has safely passed through the fashion stage and today has achieved a permanent place as one of the most popular sports in America. The equipment is standard and specific rules. The scientific principles that govern the behavior a celluloid beaten by a rubber ball racket cover have already been explored and developed to the extent that what was once an elegant parlor game anyone can win is now a fast and exciting sport whose champions are among the fastest and most agile of athletes.
