Open Question: Weak and stiff pectoralis major muscle in the arm?

Quite a while ago, I was playing table tennis and when hitting the ball for a smash, I hurt my arm in the area which I think is called the pectoralis major. I had done a lot of pushes the day before and my arms were really sore especially around this region. Anyone who has done pushups would know this area since it becomes very sore when you do push ups after a really long time. Well a few months have passed now and whenever I exert this muscle it gets aggravated. Its nothing much, just some discomfort and a little pain but it does not allow me to go all out. What should I do to get back full strength and flexibility? I’ve tried resting, massaging and stretching but nothing really seems to work.
