Open Question: How large a space is necessary to be able to play Table Tennis / Ping Pong in . . . ?

How much larger than the table should the space be, on the playing ends, as well as on the sides . . . ?

but the only thing that site says regarding the play-space size is:

“Regardless of where you’re planning to place your new equipment inside or outside your house, you should always make sure you have enough room to move around when playing. Once you have the table dimensions, measure the play area prior to making the purchase in order to ensure that the table will fit.”

What I am looking for is some guidance as to how much clearance between the table & walls there needs to be. I am not going to be lobbing the ball high, but I do play quite well & fast, & don’t want to have to worry about whether I’m going to hit a wall at some point. (I haven’t played in several years, & have forgotten just how much I at times move away from the table, while playing.)

Two feet on the sides MIGHT be enough to get pat the table, but I need to be able to move up the side a bit to hit the ball when necessary, too. (BTW, I am 5′3″, & 117 lbs.)
