Table tennis equipment in general is so cheap compared to that required in other sports that you should not hesitate in buying the best. An excellent racket costs about five dollars; a ball, twenty-five cents, and a table, fifty to sixty dollars. A trust store will sell you a good team, if you insist on it. If you want to be really true, look for the official seal of the United States Table Tennis Association, which is printed on their computers by the manufacturers whose products meet the specifications minimum established by this body.
THE TABLE
The standard table tennis is three meters by five feet, with the playing surface thirty inches floor. A white-eighth to one quarter of an inch long runs through the center of the playing surface and the table is divided into two parts. Because the line is only used in double, is not binding in singles play, but it is certainly preferable.
The best tennis table to buy is one with three quarters of an inch, five-layer top. A three-layer board is cheaper but dampens the bouncing ball for a quick game is impossible. The table should be robust, standard size, and must have eight legs.
The surface should be stained (not painted), dark green, or some other color not reflect boring. A painted surface will slow the rebound the ball and delete it from the ball and discolored. The table can be either fixed or folding, depending on whether or not a permanent place in which to keep.
LIGHTING

THE RACKET
The most important piece of equipment is, of course, the racket. The table tennis rules allow you to use a racket any size, shape and material you want, but through experience, expert gamers have learned that a three, four or five layers of five weight racket six ounces and covered with soft rubber, gravel is by far the most satisfactory. The rubber nuggets prolong contact with the ball and allow control and turning the same way that a new full rubber tire tread grips the road better and gives the driver more control of his car.
The racket rubber has the additional advantage of not betraying Shooting at the speed of the sound. He hits the ball with the same speed as a wooden racket, but does not allow the opponent's ear, warning of the seriousness, or lack of gravity, making the noise.
